On Your Feet series. When things got serious my sister always said “Put your big girl shoes on!” I guess that is the same thing as thinking on your feet. I like the idea that some shoes can take on a certain persona us. Certainly, there are shoes that we wear for specific activities. Shoes are the workhorses of our wardrobes, even if they don’t always look the part.

"In my paintings I explore themes from urban environments. Most of this imagery has a personal connection for me. I was a sign artist for many years and signage can sometimes figure prominently in my work, as can clothing influenced by my tailor grandmother who was a creative force in my life. My interest in projected self-image shows up in my depictions of shop windows, storefronts, clothing and automobiles. Much of my technique is informed by my former occupation as a trompe l’oeil painter and sign artist."
