The “Cosmic Cloud” Bowls push the boundaries of traditional fused glass, to explore visual texture & depth along with color and light. They’re called Solos as each bowl is its own unique, unreplicable work of art, dancing on the line between artistry and alchemy.  The pieces are created by thickly layering glass of varying color and opacity within a stainless steel ring. The ring “contains” the glass, forcing the molten material into a thick, round slab, rather than allowing it to flow outward. These glass “pucks” range from three quarters to one inch in thickness, and weigh between six to ten pounds.

After the first slow, hot firing, the puck is then layered in the kiln with additional sheet glass and frit (crushed glass particles), strategically placed both above and below the puck. When fired again without the steel containment ring, the glass slowly expands on the shelf, creating drifting, cloud-like forms that shift and deepen as the light changes.

The final firing step shapes the glass into its elegant bowl form. The result is a vessel that feels both grounded and ethereal—perfect as a centerpiece or accent for any space.
