Original Watercolor

I wanted to take on a personal challenge: how large of a watercolor could I do? How large is even possible? A year ago I had mused over how to tackle a watercolor at a scale I had not previously attempted: four by six feet. After finding a solution to this conundrum by discovering RayMar panels I began the endeavor in April 2023 with a subject I was familiar with.

I am always in awe of how grand this tremendous Sycamore tree truly is, so big it would take six to seven people locking hands to embrace it! Its limbs easily reach across the entire river where I stood on the opposite bank gathering references and painting another study to take with me into my studio. From April to the middle of September this was my task, consuming every available moment I had to paint. Now it sits, finished, and waiting patiently to be displayed proudly in someone’s home.
