Description
This original artwork for these reproductions were highly detailed, hand-drawn, scratchboards by international award-winning, Master Scratchboard Artist, Cathy Sheeter. This reproduction is printed on chromalux aluminum from that artwork.
Scratchboard is a unique art form where dark ink (black or color) is removed to reveal a layer of white clay hidden beneath. Values and textures are achieved by scratching away the ink and revealing more of the white clay. Works can be black and white or colored with transparent India inks. Some of Cathy’s tools include x-acto knifes, sandpaper, fiberglass brushes, and tattoo needles to carefully remove the ink. Every hair, dot and dimple is, amazingly, created just with scratches!
