This particular Agave lives in my front yard. I have been wanting to paint it for a while. I love the way the light and shadows play on the leaves and the symmetry of its structure reminds me of an opening lotus blossom.

Inspired by my love of nature, I use transparent watercolors to create luminous botanical, wildlife and landscape paintings featuring strong composition, vibrant light and brilliant color. I create realistic and inviting images that encourage the viewer to engage with my subjects. My work tends to emphasize light and shadow as well as the vivid colors occurring in nature. The fluid and spontaneous nature of watercolor gives my work an organic and extemporaneous feel. My unique process allows me to paint on boards and canvas specially treated with layers of various absorptive elements in order to accept watercolor.
