I am clearly a desert lover and have lived in the West/Southwest since the early ’80s. Having said that, I still like the beauty of fresh snow reminiscent of my childhood in the midwest. Waking up to fresh “pure white” powder was always a good reason to go out and play – and if there was enough of it, maybe we even got a snow day home from school! See if you can find the cardinal perched on one of the branches…

Inspired by my love of nature, I use transparent watercolors to create luminous botanical, wildlife and landscape paintings featuring strong composition, vibrant light and brilliant color. I create realistic and inviting images that encourage the viewer to engage with my subjects. My work tends to emphasize light and shadow as well as the vivid colors occurring in nature. The fluid and spontaneous nature of watercolor gives my work an organic and extemporaneous feel. My unique process allows me to paint on boards and canvas specially treated with layers of various absorptive elements in order to accept watercolor.
